“The Soul Of The City I Love”

I’m Ron, the eye behind the lens of Soul Shutter and Ron’s Classic Photography.
For me, photography isn’t just about capturing an image it’s about preserving the heartbeat of a place and the spirit of its people. And no place carries more soul than Memphis.
From the neon glow of Beale Street to the quiet corners where blues still whisper, Memphis is more than a backdrop it’s a living story. Every brick, every song, every face holds a rhythm that can’t be replicated. My mission is to capture that rhythm, to bottle up the energy, grit, and beauty that makes this city unlike any other.
I spent nearly three decades behind a barber chair, listening to people’s stories and learning how much soul lives in everyday moments. When I transitioned fully into photography, it became clear my purpose is to capture those stories visually, especially here in Memphis, where culture and history meet the present in raw, authentic ways.
Whether it’s portraits on Beale, golden-hour couples’ sessions, or black-and-white street scenes that reveal the deeper truths of the city, I aim to create work that feels timeless. My camera isn’t just a tool it’s a soul shutter, capturing the essence of the 901.
This is more than photography.
It’s Memphis. It’s history. It’s soul.
And I’m here to share it with you.
